The Manitoba Moose (1-0-1-0) picked up three points at home last weekend and now make their first road trip of the season on Friday night when they visit the Chicago Wolves (0-1-0-0) at Allstate Arena in suburban Rosemont. The Moose, the top affiliate for the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, shut out the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday for their first victory of the season. The Wolves, affiliated with the Carolina Hurricanes, played their home opener on Saturday and lost to the Milwaukee Admirals. Chicago is the defending Calder Cup champion after rolling through Rockford, Milwaukee, Stockton and Springfield with just four losses.

Oskari Salminen stopped 32 shots for Manitoba in its 4-0 win over Rockford on Sunday. Jansen Harkins opened the scoring late in the second period before the Moose poured in three goals in the third. Evan Polei had a goal and an assist and Declan Chisholm notched two helpers.
The Wolves fell behind in the first period, surrendering two goals in a 1:24 span, before battling back to tie with two quick goals in the second period. It was all Milwaukee from there in a 5-2 loss. Vasily Ponomarev and Stelio Mattheos had the scores for Chicago as Pyotr Kochetkov allowed four goals on 22 shots in net.
