East Union golfer Ashley Trinidad placed third in the Valley Oak League Championships, carding an 85 Tuesday while securing an all-league medal and a spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Tournament.

She’s one of five local athletes to qualify out of the VOL tournament. Oakdale (453) and Kimball (522) advance as teams. East Union finished third with a 552.

Jessica Ingalls contributed a 97 for the Lancers, and Amanda Pale turned in a 119. They’re joining Trinidad at the SJS divisional tourney next Monday at Micke Grove Golf Links in Lodi. Dillan Blevins (125) and Ava Gutierrez (126) rounded out EU’s score.

Sierra’s Johanna Riemann and Emily Camera of Manteca each scored a 109 and locked down their SJS Division III berths.

Sierra notched a team score of 631. Anna Dickinson (126), Sydney Ladrido (123), Kayleen Pineda (136) and Mackenzie Funk (137) accounted for the Timberwolves’ score. Manteca finished with a 659 with scoring contributions coming from Kylie Elliot (130), Kaelynn Loureiro (125), Alyssa Rattanasack (146) and Eva Cisneros (149).

WAC Championships

Lathrop completed its season in the Western Athletic Conference Championships at Dryden Park Golf Course.

Lathrop finished with a 693 score, edging out Pacheco by a stroke for third place. Mountain House (517) and Beyer (548) were the top two. Mountain House’s Ashlee Xu was low medalist with a 7-over-par 79.

Sara Sardar carded a 124 to lead Lathrop. Other scorers: Sanah Sunner (128), Kate Albisu (139), Mya Grisham (145) and Yadira Hernandez (157).


Central Catholic 9, East Union 0

Samantha Edley (2-6, 2-6), Trinity Pacheco (3-6, 4-6), Miranda Renter (1-6, 1-6), Shayla LaGrande (2-6, 0-6), Gianna Fernandez (3-6, 1-6) and Samantha Escamilla (4-6, 6-2, 8-10) fell short in singles play for East Union.

The Lancers’ No. 1 doubles team of Isabella Teicheira and Gabriella Castillo lost, 0-6, 3-6. Mai-Britt Hartung and Ashlyn Yang were defeated, 0-6, 1-6. East Union forfeited the third doubles match.

Sierra 8, Kimball 1

Jaden Alton outlasted Jade Asuncion 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles match, highlighting Sierra’s lopsided victory.

Also winning singles matches were No.1 Tanya Sharma (6-1, 6-1), No. 2 Maryn Petersen (6-2, 7-5), No. 3 Navleen Dosanjh (6-4, 6-2) and No. 5 Grace Langenfeld, (6-0, 6-1).

Doubles winners were No. 1 Amber Garza-Simran Dosanjh (6-3, 6-0), No. 2 Kimmely Mejia-Mumveer Dosanjh (6-2, 6-3) and No. 3 Natalie Mejia-Byrdie Louryu (6-1, 6-0).
