Carlos Sainz looks up to the Spaniard. The two struck up a friendship late in their life after they had become professional racing sportsmen. Just recently, as Marquez had shifted to Madrid. So Sainz, a Madrid-born himself, helped him adapt and set up in the city.

Now again, Sainz has made his adulation of Marc public as he conquered yet another outstanding achievement. Marquez recently secured a P2 at the Australian MotoGP. The P2 meant he had completed 100 podiums in the competition, adding him to an elite list of riders.

Sainz congratulated his countryman with a post on his Instagram that said “100 podiums, menudo crack!! Enhorabuena @marcmarquez93!!” (100 podiums, a real cracker!! Congratulations @marcmarquez93!!” (Translated via DeepL)

What Marquez has achieved is deemed greatness in the MotoGP circles. Sainz too would be hoping to make the most of the years he has in F1 now, given he is racing for a car that could become a title challenger soon.

Charles Leclerc was performing well this season if one sets aside the strategy and other management-related errors. This goes to show that the car has potential. Other factors need working on for the Italian team.

Sainz has made it clear that the challenge for the title will come next year, and not just from his Monegasque teammate. He said “My goal is to be World Champion one day.  hope if there is a good car again next year, I can be in the fight from the start. Not to drop off in that first half because I know once I’m in the fight, I’m capable of staying in the fight. That will be the goal.”
